Well, not much news yet at this point. We are waiting for the visa paperwork to be completed and I expect someone to ask us for passports at some point in the near future. The last update I received suggested that visas should be ready by the end of March or beginning of April. Not holding my breath just yet. In the interim, there are many logistics that need attention:
- Daycare needs one month notice
- Kate currently has a day job.
- We likely need to find someone to rent our house (anyone interested).
- We need to move the items that will not be making the journey up to the farm, once we have decided which items those are of course.
- Electronics won't work in the UK, so I should be working on getting rid of them.
The above list probably still lacks items for things I have yet to think about...
Fortunately we have had the heating, cooling and plumbing all checked out and have made a generous contribution to the local economy in this regard.
This coming week I am having someone come to the house for a move assessment as well as a phone call on tax planning, which given that I will likely need to pay tax in both the US and UK should be its own bundle of joy.
To add insult to injury, none of the items above should technically happen before we have a visa in hand, which certainly is not helping the situation.
