We arrived safely from our BA flight of 8 1/2 hours from Seattle to London overnight. Although the flight was pleasantly uneventful, we were pretty jet lagged today. The driver who picked us up at Heathrow gave us a nice tour through Kensington to our place next to St Paul's Cathedral. Once we dropped off our bags at our new 2 month home, we set out for a quick and easy sushi lunch at Itsu.
Our place is fantastic. It is down a cute windy cobble street with cute restaurants and pubs. It's 2 beds and 2 baths with a nice living room and stocked kitchen! The girls tested out the bath tub and the three televisions!!! Can't we stay longer? We found the BBC ceebeebies channel and the girls are all acclimated to their new city.
My initial thoughts on day one are that this city is fantastic. I'm so excited. It hasn't sunk in yet that this is our new city. We live here now! London!
We went on a nice long walk along the Thames, across Millennium bridge, past St Paul's, the Tate, with views of the London Eye, Big Ben, London bridge, etc.
We stopped to investigate our first of many London lattes. We tried Cafe Nero. Good. Then we stopped at a convenience shop for some Nescafe instant coffee for whatever might transpire during our jet lag week.
Today was long but fantastic. Beautiful, perfect first day in London.
